Winter Warmth: Heating Support for 60 Pensioner Households

Energy debt among over-70s in our county tripled in two years. The council's emergency fund covers a fraction of requests, and outreach workers keep meeting the same choice: heat or eat.

Winter Warmth is a simple, audited intervention: £300 grants paid directly to the energy provider for 60 households assessed by the county's own social workers, plus a warm kit (blanket, thermos, draft tape) for each home.

The county social services do the assessments; an independent accountant reviews the disbursements quarterly; and every backer receives the anonymized disbursement report. No overheads are taken from this campaign — the fund's administration is covered by a separate grant.
