Rainwater for Sunbeam School - Harvesting System & Filtration

Sunbeam School closes its taps for three months every dry season. Attendance drops — mostly among the youngest children — because carrying water is a day's work.

The system is now live: 1,200 m² of roof guttering feeds four 5,000-litre tanks, with a three-stage sand-and-UV filtration station that the school's science club helps maintain. Water testing happens every term and the results are pinned to the noticeboard.

We exceeded the goal by 2% — the overrun paid for a second hand-washing station by the kitchens. Thank you to all 214 backers; the completion report with photos and lab results is in the updates.
