Mobile Eye Clinic for Rural Communities

Mobile Eye Clinic for Rural Communities

In Lexington County, the nearest optometrist is a two-hour bus ride away. For seniors and children without transport, that distance means years of untreated vision problems — kids struggling to read the blackboard, grandparents unable to drive safely.

Our plan is simple: convert a donated minibus into a fully equipped mobile eye clinic — two testing stations, a lens grinding setup, and 500 pairs of stock glasses — and run weekly routes through eight rural communities.

We already have the van (donated by a local dealership), a volunteer optometrist committed to two days a month, and a partnership with the county health office. Your contributions cover the diagnostic equipment, the lens lab, fuel, and our first year of free community screenings.

Every screening is free. Glasses are provided at cost, and nobody is ever turned away. We publish a monthly route report with the number of patients seen — you'll see exactly what your support delivered.
