Milldale has one of the darkest skies within an hour of the city, and nothing to look at it with. The library wants to host monthly astronomy nights; the school wants in for its science classes; what's missing is the telescope.
This campaign buys a 10-inch Dobsonian telescope, moon and planet filters, red-light headlamps for thirty visitors, and a weatherproof storage case that lives at the community hall. Every scope night is free and family-friendly.
The astronomy society has committed two volunteer operators per event, and the first three dates are already on the hall's calendar — Saturn's rings are best in spring.
